Land purchase by Rosemullion
The planning process
Case studies
This site was formerly a kitchen garden to the Elizabethan manor house Prideaux Place and at the time Rosemullion Homes became involved, was an overgrown plot of about three quarters of an acre, enclosed by high listed Victorian stone walls.
Following negotiations between Rosemullion Homes, their architects and North Cornwall District Council, the principle of development on the site was established together with the necessary listed building consents to create an opening in the stone wall to provide the access to the site. The deliberately understated and sensitive architectural scheme was well received by the local planning authority and the considerable structural difficulties involved in converting an old barn on the site into a high quality new home were overcome. The process of development spanned a period from the signing of the option to purchase in 1998, through to the successful completion of the final home on the site in August 2000.
