Cornish house builder drives forward its green agenda
One of Cornwall’s premier house builders has gone an extra mile to help the environment by building a road from recycled materials.

At its Trinity Watch site in St Ives, award winning Rosemullion Homes has proved its commitment to tackling green issues by hiring a stone crusher.
During excavation of the development, based off Higher Trewidden Road, a large amount of rock was unearthed, inspiring the green minded company to re-use the material within its road base.
Hiring the machine has allowed Rosemullion to successfully recycle a massive 700 tons of stone, brick and block, which has saved the company 173 lorry journeys to and from the site.
Craig Thomson, Rosemullion’s buyer, said: “By recycling our waste we have not only reduced our carbon emissions but have also prevented unnecessary traffic congestion within St Ives by keeping the need for lorries to a bare minimum.
“Recycling our stone has also proved to have economic benefits by saving us nearly £9000.”
The strong environmental ethos of the Truro-based house builder has meant since starting the site a year ago, no skips have been sent to landfill.
Roger Carson, managing director of Rosemullion Homes, said: “As a company working sustainably is very important to us. We care very much about the environment and Cornwall, so with all our developments we make every effort to ensure they are created with a green agenda in mind.
“As well as using the stone crusher, to ensure the properties at Trinity Watch are energy efficient, all will be fitted with gas-fired under floor heating, wood-burning stoves and additional insulation in floors, walls and ceilings.
“We also use natural materials from local sources whenever possible, including locally quarried stone and some reclaimed Delabole slate, not only does this ensure our properties fit in with their Cornish surroundings, but again it reduces our carbon footprint.”
September marked the official opening of Trinity Watch which comprises 15 new two, three and four bedroom properties.
Three of the new houses now nearing completion are available for sale with prices from £550,000 to £600,000. Each of these is of a different design with four or five bedroom accommodation ranging from 1865 sq ft to 2270 sq ft.
