Councillor Tanner was joined by Deputy Mayor of St Ives, Councillor Yvonne Watson on a progress visit to the Trinity Watch development off Higher Trewidden Road in St Ives.

The scheme is being carried out by Truro-based Rosemullion Homes, which was recently named the UK’s Housebuilder of the Year at the What House? Awards 2008.

The site comprises of eleven are private homes for sale and four social housing properties which are available to rent for the Penwith Housing Association (PHA) and the Devon and Cornwall Housing Association (DCHA).

“I think they are absolutely beautiful and the new tenants will be fortunate people. The rooms are large and there is excellent workmanship in construction,” said Councillor Tanner.

Deputy Mayor of St Ives, Councillor Yvonne Watson was also pleased that PHA, Rosemullion Homes and the Penwith council had worked together to ensure that there is affordable housing integrated with such high specification homes.

She said: “I am delighted too, to note that at least one unit is being adapted for a local disabled person’s specific requirements and also that a flat is earmarked for someone downsizing, which will result in a four-bedroomed house being made available to a local homeless family.

“All of which will be beneficial for the people of St Ives.”

The civic leaders were in a group that toured the site with PHA chair Gail Hunt, chief executive Andy Moore and others including Rosemullion Homes’ construction director Ray Trebilcock and site manager James Smith.

Rosemullion Homes’ land director, Duncan Cumberland, said:
“The homes are due to be completed in March”

“The open market three, four and five-bedroom homes for private sale range up to about £600,000 and have already enjoyed a great deal of interested since the show home open.

“Two have already been sold.”
