The conservation village of Paul, just west of Penzance was founded around the church of St. Pol de Leon in the 6th century. Today, the church tower looks down on a village of houses and cottages built in granite, slate and render. Here Rosemullion Homes constructed 6 new homes using local stone and a redundant farmhouse and adjacent cattle barn to a new life. The rugged nature of west Cornwall is emphasised by sturdy sinuous boundary walls in stone and granite, the sense of enclosure being completed by 2 ‘roundhouse’ garages with central lychgates.
